Seed Cycling for Healthy Hormones and Clearer Skin

What is seed cycling?

Cycling seeds throughout the month to help support estrogen and progesterone production during particular times of your menstrual cycle.

Who can benefit?

Any woman who is not on hormonal birth control and wants to balance their hormones for better sleep, less PMS, fewer breakouts, better mood, and improved fertility can reap the benefits of seed cycling.



How to do it:

  • 1st Half of your cycle (Day 1 of menstruation - day 14):

    • Consume 1 Tbs ground flax seeds + 1 Tbs raw pumpkin seeds daily (DARK COLORED SEEDS)

    • What is does: 

      • Improves estrogen to progesterone ratio

      • Optimizes ovulation

      • Eliminates excess estrogen: The lignans found in these seeds also help to bind excess estrogens and remove them from the body

    • Tips:

      • Avoid buying pre-ground flax seeds. Use freshly ground flax seeds for the best nutrient profile.

      • Throw the flax seeds and pumpkin seeds on top of avocado or almond butter toast or add them to a smoothie.

      • Carry a small container and eat the pumpkin seeds as a snack.

      • Be sure to purchase organic seeds and ensure they are raw or dry-roasted. Check your labels to ensure there are no added seed oils (canola, sunflower oil)

  • 2nd Half of your cycle - AKA Luteal Phase (Days 15-28):

    • Consume 1 Tbs sunflower seeds + 1 Tbs sesame seeds daily (LIGHT COLORED SEEDS)

    • What is does: 

      • Lowers inflammation

      • Reduces PMS symptoms 

      • Provides zinc, selenium, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E to increase progesterone levels naturally

    • Tips:

      • Throw the sesame seeds and sunflower seeds on top of avocado or almond butter toast or add them to a smoothie.

      • Carry a small container and eat the sunflower seeds as a snack.

      • Be sure to purchase organic seeds and ensure they are raw or dry-roasted. Check your labels to ensure there are no added seed oils (canola, sunflower oil)


Consistency is key! Aim to eat your seeds daily for at least 3-4 months before expecting to see and feel changes.


For those without a regular period: Begin seed cycling with the new moon. Consume the dark seeds for 2 weeks, then light seeds for 2 weeks. Continue even after your period has become more regular to reap the many benefits of seed cycling!
